Are you unhappy at work?
Do you find yourself thinking about “hump day”?
What is Hump Day?
This is a term that is used to describe that you are having a tough week and are unhappy at work and Wednesday is the half way point to finishing the week. It helps you see that you are making progress through the week and only two days to go before the weekend rolls around and you don’t have to be at work.
More deeply this means, you are unhappy with your job/career and it’s time to look at other options.
Have you ever caught yourself doing this?
I know I have when I have been in a job or career that I don’t like.
When is it time to change?
It’s great that you set yourself goals…… lol…..and if you don’t feel like this every week then having the occassional bad week is ok, it’s normal.
However, if you are feeling like this regularly then maybe it’s time to look at making a change.
Unhappy but I’m Scared of change
Change…..oh no….there’s that scary word. Many of us don’t like change in our life.
If you are a person that likes certainty, safety, security, or comfort in your life then you don’t make changes very quickly or easily, therefore, you may suffer from some of these issues:
- self- doubt
- low self-confidence
- low self esteem
How do I know what to do?
The first thing to do is know that if you have experienced any of the above then it is totally normal. Anthony Robbins says “we all need six core human needs to make us feel safe and happy”. Those core needs are:
- Love and connection
So, if one of your main(default) needs is certainty then changing jobs/career can be very daunting. The secret is finding out which of these needs are your default needs and then you can put strategies in place to help minimise the fear, so that you can find a job/career that makes you light up, fills your needs, makes you excited to go to work every day, and love what you do.
